We’re going on a Treasure Hunt: Fun
We’re going on a treasure hunt and we discovered…..FUN! After many cold nights and mosquito bites, after days of endless 2 lane roads and quiet concentration, we found time to rest and relax. A sign in Acadia National Park smiled at us…
“Everyone needs beauty as well as bread,
places to play in…..
where nature will heal and cheer,
and give strength to body and soul.” John Muir
Bethany and I found fun in biking these story roads, roads telling a story of labor and love. John D. Rockefeller Jr. came here and desired to share and preserve the beauty he beheld. He designed and built 57 miles of carriage roads with stone bridges. Today thousands of volunteers assist in preserving the fun. Is it fun to drive 8 miles over the ocean? Yes! The Confederation Bridge delivered us to an island stickered in adjectives: ionic, fresh, singing, sandy, painted, rolling, red, historic, vibrant, warm and kind. Prince Edward Island was a kind place to catch our breath, chase the sun, observe nature’s tides and reflect on family ties. For a short moment we became part of the story seeds in Anne of Green Gables, a story that creates a place for the mind to play in. Our family tree finds strength in fun, from chasing a fox to playing chess, in bubbles, marshmallows, fires and tents. What fun is in your family tree? How are you preserving these memories?
