The Nauvoo Nest: Parley Street
Family history can be a healing poultice in life. It was the first week in February 1846 when my ancestors were forced to leave Nauvoo, Illinois and cross a frozen Mississippi. A chapter in their lives was ending and a new one was beginning. Fear and sorrow are often companions when we are forced to look a new directions. Change is no costume. It is a reality. The words I heard last night, while walking down historic Parley Street, were from their journals as they stood at the edge of the unknown. Their experience will always be a strength to me as directions change and new chapters begin in my life. UNAFRAID, SERENITY, STIMULATED, ANEW, PEACE, HOPE, and UNQUENCHABLE.
