Map My Ancestors: Treasure in St. George

The hunt for history always involves treasure! It’s value is not in the sparkle that first catches your eye, but in the endurance of time’s trials and triumphs. Our hunt begins in St. George, Utah. Here we meet 3rd great grandfather Uriah Butt. He devoted his life to helping others on their journey by making shoes. After immigrating to the United States, he worked to pay the emigration debt of Grandma Bridget’s family and others. He was present when the St. George temple was dedicated and his gratitude was reflected in a different kind of journey, years of family history research. Each morning when we slip on our shoes and look at life’s treasure map, we can be certain of the direction Grandpa Uriah’s footprints lead.
